Latest News

Hey everybody. I hope you’ve all had a relaxing holiday season.

I am making big changes this year, people. 2012 is craaay. I’m moving to Melbourne, for a start!

Thanks to everybody around Australia who bought my pop record Mighty Big Light last year. Thanks also to everybody who made new Year’s Eve at the Hyde Park Hotel a fun one for us all.

This year is shaping up to be an exciting one. I’m about to announce a new chapter in the Steve Parkin saga. There’ll be lots of songwriting and new music. Film roles. Hashtags. TMZ!

I’ve demoed over 30 songs for a new album. Lots of them are pretty cool, and I’m still writing.

Mainly, though, I wanna thank anyone who’s followed my shenanigans in WA over the last 15 years or so.
Vinyl (still available from Universal, apparently) Autopilot, Foreign Films, Bob Evans band, Basement Birds and Me. I’ll miss you all. But I’ll be back, Sandgropers!

I’ll also miss my “Hi-Fidelity” time at Mills Records in Fremantle, the longest job I’ve ever (occasionally) held down. Stay tuned to my Soundcloud and Facebook pages for new tunes and new news. I’m gonna be more active!

Watch out if you’re in Melbourne. I might just start playing some shows. See you round, my pretties.

Love, Peace, Hi-Fives
Steve Parkin

Club Sandwich!

STEVE PARKIN AT CLUB SANDWICH

Club Sandwich is a new music series set to revitalise High Street’s most iconic and enigmatic clubs every Thursday in November.

To wrap up the month, acclaimed singer songwriter Steve Parkin will be performing with his full band at the Navy Club on Thursday 24 November. Having recorded and toured as part of the acoustic supergroup, Basement Birds, Parkin returns to singing shiny pop songs in his debut solo album Mighty Big Light. This will be Parkin’s first Fremantle show since the release of Mighty Big Light. Folk four-piece Rachel and Henry Climb a Hill are releasing their debut album in November and are set to support.

The Navy Club and Buffalo Club form a precious part of Fremantle’s history, especially in the West End. Hidden Treasures rediscovered these unique venues as part of the Fremantle Winter Music Series in July this year, leaving an air of excitement relating to the live music scene in Fremantle. Club Sandwich will re- capture the energy that was created on the streets of Fremantle during this time.

The series will run as an early Thursday session kicking off at 6pm and finishing at 9:30 pm, with supper available from Breaks Cafe and drink prices that belong in the 1970s. Tickets are $10 on the door.
